Msc Tourism


During the Tourism and Development study programme students deepen their general knowledge and specific professional competencies in the fields of management and business acquired during the undergraduate studies. Upon completion of the programme students are expected to demonstrate broader knowledge of management and business, strategic planning and managing sustainable development projects in tourism.
Competencies that the students are to acquire upon completion of Tourism and Development master studies are as follows:

  • Obtaining skills and knowledge in planning, managing, organising and controlling complex business processes in the specific professional field;
  • The ability to solve problems in an unknown surroundings by applying scientific method;
  • Ability to apply informational technologies in analysing business data and making adequate and timely business decisions;
  • Use of fundamental knowledge of tourism industry based on sustainable development principles;
  • Obtaining competencies required for consultancy in specific maters in the domain of tourism industry;
  • Skills and capabilities of organisational project-management based on the principles of sustainable;
  • The ability to apply various research methods in theory and practice of tourism management;
  • Personal development and leadership skills;
  • Competency to attend higher academic education such as PhD level, above all those in the field of management and business in tourism.

Students gain an opportunity to apply acquired knowledge in solving specific problems during the course of research practice internship. The gained experience will aid students in developing following competencies:

  • Market research in tourism;
  • Planning and synchronising complementary activities in tourism;
  • Applying sustainable development methods and techniques in the field of tourism and complementary fields;
  • Management and marketing skills in the domain of organising various events;
  • Managing tourism enterprises based on customer satisfaction principles in tourism and complementary fields;
  • Applying regional and local planning instruments in tourism.

During the course of the study, students are to engage in extracurricular activities of choice. The Faculty of Sport and Tourism supports students’ initiatives such as organising various events and research significant for their professional specialisation, promotion of knowledge and cooperation with other institutions directly or indirectly related to tourism management.
