Our primary goal is to prepare you for entering the practice in tourism and complementary fields more quickly and successfully. Our teaching staff is mostly made up of young and professional experts in their respective fields, while our teaching methods follow the latest trends, relying on interactive classes and practical lessons, computer work, up-to-date literature, seminars and workshops.

Employment after studies

After completing the studies of tourism there is a large number of available career choices in the growing field of tourism and hospitality industry. Here are but some of them:

  • Managers or directors of small enterprises in tourism: agencies (travel, traffic, consulting in tourism…) or smaller accommodation units (family apartments, camps, motels, granges…);
  • Managers of other service enterprises complementary with tourism, such as arts and crafts shops, manufacturing and package of products into “souvenirs” and othes;
  • Workers in destination organisations, clusters, associations and state agencies dealing with tourism advancement;
  • Programmers and promoters of services in receptive, village, cultural, eco-, sport or ethno tourism;
  • Programmers of leisure activities in tourist facilities and in nature – in hotels, camps, granges, river banks, lake shores, mountains, bicycle and nautic corridors, national parks;
  • Managers of research and development businesses in public sector and tourist industry;
  • Planners and programmers of services in the field of culture, leisure, events, celebrations, performances at tourist facilities and destinations performances;

Upon a successful completion of the study programme of Tourism Management and Business, students are expected to have acquired basic knowledge in the fields of management, economics, marketing and applied tourism studies. Educational methodology is of great importance for the learning process. That is why the students engage in creating a variety of professional documents and reports in the form of students papers, business plans, travel offers and programs, case studies and other scientifically and professionally acclaimed approaches to tourism valorisation, analysis of tourism destination growth and raising competitiveness of tourism enterprises.
Competencies that the students are to acquire upon the completion of Tourism and Development master studies are as follows:

  • Solving concrete professional problems and challenges through the application of acknowledged methods and procedures;
  • Knowledgeable planning, organization, guidance and control of business processes in tourism;
  • Developed skills for the initiation and realisation of new business ideas based on the entrepreneurial thinking and spirit;
  • Using informational technologies for the analysis of business performance and managerial decision-making;
  • The ability to apply various research methods in theory and practice of tourism management;
  • Competence related to the trends and performances of tourism industries in various areas based on the sustainable development approach.

 
During the course of the study, students are to engage in extracurricular activities of choice. The Faculty of Sport and Tourism supports students’ initiatives such as organising various events and research significant for their professional specialisation, promotion of knowledge and cooperation with other institutions directly or indirectly related to tourism management.
